Boreas in Baja: Meet Alejandra

Our friend Chris runs a conservation travel company in Mexico’s Baja peninsula. They combine ecotourism with conservation activities to create stewardship of natural resources and strengthen local communities and their economies.

Alejandra is Education Coordinator for the RED Sustainable Travel project. The only thing she loves more than watching mangroves grow is travelling to rural communities in Mexico to train locals on how to run world-class ecotourism businesses. In her spare time, Alejandra studies carbon sequestration of mangroves, in hopes of demonstrating their value in dealing with climate change.Boreas and the RED project are proud to help Alejandra in her efforts to combine conservation, community development, and saving the world.

Kudos to Alejandra, Chris, and others associated with RED travel for their leadership in developing and providing trips that combine ecotourism with hands on conservation and tangible community support. Indeed, I believe that RED travel is an exciting example of how we can and must transition from unsustainable to sustainable businesses and lifestyles.
